Bodywork found me rather than me finding it. I was working as an actor in Chicago doing a very physical live production. My body was taking a beating every night of performance. A producer suggested I go to a massage therapist for help.
What I best remember is the reaction my body had to the series of routines the massage therapist used. I felt like some areas would let go and others remained "stuck". This began my exploration into body awareness, bodywork and movement education. I soon found that movement education from acting training was closely related to theories and purposes of bodywork training. The understanding of body awareness from work applied to me and bodywork training has given me palpable and attuned insight in the receptive dialogue between soft and connective tissue and applied manual (hands-on) therapies.
My bodywork background includes the study, practice, and teaching of Swedish massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage, Self-Care through Movement, Deep Tissue/ Sports Massage, Myofascial Meridian Release, Reiki and guided breathwork.
