I have only been practicing yoga for a few years, but I was hooked immediately. Within a year of my first class I was in Costa Rica working towards my 200 RYT Certification with Marianne Wells. A few months later I obtained my Yin Certification with Shala Worsley at Asheville Yoga Center. Yin Yoga has become a foundation in my life that keeps me in balance. I believe that Yoga, and for me specifically Yin Yoga, changes your psyche as much as it changes your body. Through a quiet and peaceful Yin practice one will not only heal the physical body, but also the spiritual self.
I am also a teacher outside of the yoga studio. I have a BA in elementary education from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, and an M. Ed in Elementary Curriculum from UTC. I currently work as a Gifted Teacher in Hamilton County Schools, with a primary focus on urban schools and children from poverty. Although I am not currently working in the classroom, I enjoy the opportunity I have to work with students and teachers across the district.
